Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Lead - Data Centre Projects
Location: Portugal
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Lead to join a strong team in Portugal and play a key role in delivering excellence in Data Centre projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design and engineering of HVAC, cooling, and other critical infrastructure systems for Data Centre projects.
- Oversee and guide a team of engineers in delivering high-quality mechanical solutions that meet client specifications, sustainability standards, and operational requirements.
- Ensure the implementation of best practices in energy efficiency and sustainability, including closed-loop and open-loop cooling systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and construction teams, to ensure seamless project delivery from design to commissioning.
- Conduct technical assessments, troubleshooting, and optimization of mechanical systems to maintain high performance and reliability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and trends, particularly around energy-efficient designs and innovations in cooling technologies.
- Support project management teams in budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for mechanical engineering tasks.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure their requirements are fully understood and incorporated into the project design.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years focused on Data Centres or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and overseeing large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC design, cooling systems, and energy-efficient solutions specific to Data Centres.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, and European regulatory requirements.
- LEED/BREEAM certifications or experience with sustainable building practices is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Fluent in English; Portuguese language skills are a plus.
